Mandate and Functions

• a. To advise the State Government on measures to prevent unnecessary pain or suffering of animals generally and more particularly when they are being transported from one place to another or when they are used as performing animals or when they are kept in captivity or confinement.
• b. To advise the Government or any local authority or other person on improvement in the design of vehicle to lessen the urban or draught animal.
• c. To take all such step for amelioration of animals by encouraging the construction of sheds, water thought and like and by providing for Veterinary insistence to animals.
• d. To advise the Government or any local authority or other person in the design of slaughter-house or in connection with slaughter of animals so that necessary pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is eliminated in the pre-slaughter stages as per possible and animals are killed, wherever necessary in as human manner as possible.
• e. To take all such steps to ensure that unwanted animals are destroyed by local authorities whenever it is necessary to do so instantaneously or after being renders insensible to pain or suffering.
• f. To encourage the formation or establishment of pinjarapoles, rescue homes, animal shelters and like where animals and birds may find shelters.
• g. To cooperate with the works of association establishment for the purpose of preventing unnecessary paying or suffering of animals.
• h. To encourage formation of animal welfare organizations in any local area and to guide them in their working.
• i. To advise the Government matters relenting to medical care and attention which may be provided in animal hospitals.
• j. To advise the Government on any matter connected with animal welfare or the prevention of infliction of unnecessary pain or suffering on animals.
